Article 17 of the Habitats Directive (92/43/EEC) requires Member States to submit reports to the European Commission every six years on the implementation of the Directive within their territory. The reports include information and data on the distribution and conservation status of habitat types and species listed in Annexes I, II, IV, and V of the Directive, both within and outside the Natura 2000 Network, as well as on the pressures and threats to them and conservation measures. The competent authority for their submission is the Ministry of Environment and Energy (MEEN).
The reports are submitted to the Central Data Repository of the European Environment Agency and consist of two parts: a General report, which covers conservation measures, the management of Natura 2000 sites, and financial matters; and a section that contains data (factsheets and maps) on the status of habitat types and species of Community interest.
With regard to habitat types, Greece has submitted reports for the following reporting periods:
The reports are used by the European Commission to compile the report “State of Nature in the EU.”
